How to Format an IBM Laptop

IBM Laptop computers come in a wide range of models, with varying performance specifications and hard drive sizes. Formatting a laptop computer's hard drive erases all of the data that is on the drive, including the operating system. In some situations, it is necessary to format the computer's hard drive so a new operating system can be installed. Back up any important data before formatting the IBM laptop as it will be completely erased.

Click the Windows Start button.

Right-click the "IBM" hard drive. This is typically drive "C:"

Click "Format" on the drop-down menu.

Click the "Format" icon to complete the process.
